Blitzkrieg 2017

Posted by Benjamin Lin on

2017 Blitzkrieg was dedicated to Team Yankee. It was a 100 point tournament for all our players in which the winners got not one, but TWO t-55AM boxes. that 130 USD in prizes for our champion! Team Yankee is also the new kid on the block so we didn't have everyone at the 100 point level yet so the tournament kicked off with just 8 players. we did pairing randomly but favoring red on blue for the first round. We then did reverse swiss for the following 2 rounds.
So for 2017, we have a new way to show the battles and events of Ty, we have made Magnets for formations, these are greta as we are able to rub off the names and replace them with whoever is taking part. For later campaign events, we only need to print a new map of whetever theatre we are playing for and we can throw these magnets up to represent our brave commanders.
You will see these in future reports. :)
The battles were also chosen via the new battle plan system. so each player had to choose their own battle plan and match it up with their opponent to se ewhich mission was played. we found this to be very fair. Since the plan would remain constant throughout the tournament, it meant you determined your own fate in a way.... An us TOs weren't blamed for "bad" missions.
I swear i hear ride of the Valkyrie every time all the aircraft hits the table
The local afghansty player, Podpolkovnic Alexei (if you followed the TOTS campaign) brought 8 hinds. I know youre thinking "you are lucky he didn't bring 12!". he brought 6 frogfoot Su-25s to accompany them. They would draw fire and then the Hinds would fire. 14 aircraft on the table really blows. 6 Gepards and 2 Red eyes teams didn't do the trick.
Lances Desert storm Mech infantry. uncompleted but the unassuming 6 M109s were armed with all three special ammunition, 8 ITVs and 3 Mech platoons were enough to win him the competition. Congratulations to Lance.
Battle raged across the Fields of Anhalt Saxony and the industrial heartlands. BAOR fights of the eastern Germans here.
I dont know how to rotate this image in shopify so forgive the angle. But the Other American player defends the petrol station and its Oil (As the Americans seem so fond of it) These M113s are also the winner of the Best painted this competition. Congratulations to Abdullah!
And of course, someone had to bring the Volks Armee! Enough AFVs to swarm most lines, the volksarmee did a brilliant job of capturing swathes of West Germany through sheer force of numbers.
what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? The volks armee smashes into a prepared defense Mech Infantry line across an empty frozen city center. the wrecks on the back left are the Volks Armee vehicles all torn to shreds by hidden ITVs.
We would like to congratulate our winners
Champion: Lance Chong
Runner up: Benjamin Lin
Best painted: Abdullah for his MERDC Camo on his Us force
Best Sportsman: Fauzi (most noise complaints recieved from neighbours)
All in all, it was a brilliant tournament with great variety of lists. Our next events will be TY campaigns and likely after that, with enough time to prep, we should be looking at trying V4 tournaments in the future. Hope we can get more of you to join us in the next round!
